Children Come First

A Message from LPES

Sitting on the edge of the Woodmoor community in Monument, Lewis-Palmer Elementary School (LPES) offers one of the best views in the state. Our proximity to the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs and Denver gives our families access to many amenities. Our long history of academic excellence provides our students and our families a rigorous, yet child-centered educational experience. At LPES, children truly do come first. Our collaborative teams of teachers get to know each and every student and students receive instruction tailored to meet their specific learning needs. Teachers have high expectations for all students and are able to help each and every student achieve at high levels.

LPES has a long history of academic achievement and has repeatedly been honored with the John Irwin Award, a recognition that is reserved for the top 8% of schools in the state. Students receive art instruction as a part of our regular school schedule, attend PE classes 2 – 3 times per week and have access to and instruction in using a wide variety of technology tools. Students receive music instruction grounded in the Orff Schulwerk philosophy – progressing in skill levels from kindergarten through sixth grade.

We also offer a host of before- and after-school enrichment opportunities for ALL students. Students participate in Chess Club, Eagle Choir, Print Making, Japanese Culture, Aerospace Engineering, Rubik’s Cube Club, After-School Sports, Cooking, Drama Club, and Drawing Classes. Each year, we have over 200 students who participate in this fun and enlightening enrichment.

Students at LPES also have many opportunities to participate in both our local and our global community. Our K-Kids group (a service and leadership organization sponsored by our local Kiwanis club) provides students with the opportunity to be leaders in our school and volunteers in our community. Coordinated by K-Kids, LPES students have assisted with local food and toy drives, supported the American Red Cross disaster relief efforts in both our country and world-wide, and recently, LPES students and families collected personal care items to send to deployed soldiers.

LPES welcomes parents and families into our school as a part of our school community. Parent volunteers are visible in our school each and every day. We hold fast to the belief that we are partners in your child’s education and that by working together, we can truly achieve more than we can by working in isolation. Welcome to our school!
